Iriish School

Maurice Desmond was born in Co. Louth in 1944. He studied at the Limerick School of Art, and has been painting full-time since 1964. He has exhibited regularly at the Oireachtas and the Irish Exhibition of Living Art (winning a first prize there in 1969), and has had a number of one-man shows, 1967-86. He works in acrylic, representing figures and landscape in a mythical, semi-abstract manner.
He now lives in Cork. He held a one-man exhibition at the Triskel Art Centre in 1989 and was represented in 'The Visitor's Show', contemporary Irish landscape printers (1989), and Contemporary Irisdh Artists, Austin/Desmond Gallery, London in 1990.
